Admin token forgery via unsigned peer identity

Improper authentication in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 allows attackers to forge an administrative session token. The distributed search authentication token endpoint does not require a signed request to identify a configured search peer, so peer validation can fall back to shared local key material when a trusted distributed search private key is available. Reachability requires access to that trusted private key; with it, remote attackers can authenticate as an administrative peer, read indexed data, change configuration, and interrupt service.
