Authenticated command execution via unchecked Manager XML
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Code injection in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands via XML. Splunk Web accepts Splunk Web Manager XML configuration changes without enforcing the edit_manager_xml capability, letting a low-privileged user store malicious configuration that executes when the affected Manager page is opened. Reachability requires Splunk Web to be enabled and valid account access without that capability; execution runs as the Splunk Enterprise service account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0 <10.0.9
