Admin SPL execution via dashboard search injection
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
SPL injection in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 allows remote attackers to run SPL as an admin via a Monitoring Console link. Monitoring Console uses caller-supplied dashboard input to build dashboard searches without sufficiently validating or neutralizing that input before execution. Exploitation requires phishing a user with the admin Splunk role into opening the crafted link; the injected SPL can read data visible to that user and modify lookup data, but the attacker cannot trigger it at will.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0 <10.0.9
