Cross-user SPL execution via dashboard export
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
SPL injection in Splunk Enterprise allows remote authenticated users to run SPL as another user during dashboard PDF export. Splunk Web accepts attacker-controlled dashboard content and does not sufficiently validate embedded Search Processing Language before processing the export request, so the stored query executes with the exporting user's permissions. Exploitation requires a user with the power role to plant the dashboard and another authenticated user to be tricked into exporting it; the injected SPL can read or modify only data that second user can access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0 <10.0.9
- Affected versionversion=10.2 <10.2.6
- Affected versionversion=10.4 <10.4.1
