User-context SPL execution via search identifier
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Improper input validation in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 allows attackers to run SPL via a crafted link. The Job Details dashboard places a caller-supplied search identifier into SPL searches without correctly neutralizing it, letting injected risky commands execute in the opened view. Exploitation requires a low-privileged authenticated user to phish another authenticated user into opening the link, after which the injected SPL inherits that user's data access and write permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0 <10.0.9
