Unauthorized search execution via nearby-event SPL injection
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
SPL injection in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 allows remote attackers to run unauthorized searches. The nearby-event search path in Splunk Web builds Search Processing Language from caller-supplied values without consistent escaping, and embedded report access accepts those requests without the expected authorization check. Exposure requires Splunk Web to be enabled and reachable; the published impact is unauthorized search execution, with no public source stating code execution beyond search activity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0 <10.0.9
- Affected versionversion=10.2 <10.2.6
