Unauthorized payload signing via unchecked REST authorization

Published Oct 7, 2026 · Updated Oct 7, 2026

Improper access control in affected Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Secure Gateway releases allows remote authenticated users to obtain signed payloads. Multiple Secure Gateway REST endpoints process attacker-controlled signing requests without enforcing the authorization required for privileged functionality. A Splunk account without the admin or power role is sufficient; the published record does not establish what further use the signed payloads permit.
