Cross-user SPL execution via Data Model Editor
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
SPL injection in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.1, 10.2.6, 10.0.8, and 9.4.13 allows remote authenticated users to run arbitrary SPL via the Data Model Editor. When the editor runs the base search for auto-extracted fields, Splunk Web does not apply risky-command safeguards, so a crafted request can dispatch commands under the affected user's existing permissions. Exploitation requires a non-admin, non-power user to phish another authenticated user into initiating the browser request, and impact is limited to data access and actions allowed by the affected user's role.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
