Arbitrary SPL execution via dataset name injection
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
SPL injection in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, 9.4.14, and 9.3.14 allows remote attackers to run searches as another user via a crafted link. Dataset Explorer builds SPL from an untrusted dataset name without validation or escaping and omits the risky-command safeguards normally applied to those generated searches. Exploitation requires phishing a user into opening the link in Splunk Web, after which the injected pipeline runs with that user's data access and change permissions and can also affect availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
