Privilege escalation via alert action settings

Improper privilege management in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, or 9.4.14 lets remote authenticated users run arbitrary SPL. Scheduled search alert action configuration fails to restrict user-specific alert action settings before the scheduler runs alert actions, so attacker-controlled settings execute with the highest system privilege. Exploitation requires a role with the schedule_search capability and enables credential-store access, broad data tampering, and service disruption.
