Code execution via unquoted Helm chart name
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Command injection in Mend.io Renovate before 40.33.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted Kustomize Helm data. In lib/modules/manager/kustomize/artifacts.ts, helmRepositoryArgs appends depName to the shell command for helm pull --untar without shlex quoting in the vulnerable code path, so a chart name from kustomization.yaml and a Helm repository index can inject shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires write access to a repository that Renovate scans and reaches the vulnerable path when Kustomize Helm chart inflation is used; successful execution runs on the Renovate host with the bot's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
