CVE-2026-76227

Secret disclosure via inherited child-process environment

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Environment variable exposure in Mend.io Renovate 42.68.1 through 43.4.3 allows attackers to read deployment secrets via child processes. Renovate's execa invocation extends the parent process environment after allowlist filtering was inadvertently removed, giving npm install, postUpgradeTasks, and postUpdateOptions every inherited variable. Exploitation requires influence over a spawned task or its executed repository content; the reported consequence is secret disclosure without integrity or availability impact.
