Function tampering via skipped schema authorization
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Missing authorization in DEFINE FUNCTION in ArcadeDB before 26.8.1 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite stored SQL or Cypher functions. In DefineFunctionStatement.executeSimple, non-JavaScript updates to an existing function library bypass the guarded registerFunctionLibrary path and then call registerFunction plus saveConfiguration without an UPDATE_SCHEMA check. Reachability requires database access and a preexisting target library; JavaScript functions are excluded, but affected users can persistently tamper with admin-defined function logic and cause limited service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
