Authenticated plugin deactivation via unchecked AJAX action
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Missing authorization in Codexpert ThumbPress 6.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to deactivate the plugin. The send_deactivation_survey() handler registers the wp_ajax_pl-plugin-deactivation action but performs neither a capability check nor nonce verification before honoring a crafted POST request. A Subscriber-level account is sufficient; successful exploitation disables the plugin and interrupts its image-management functions until reactivation.
