Restricted child-resource disclosure via missing parent checks
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Information disclosure in phpMyFAQ before 4.1.7 allows remote attackers to read restricted FAQ comments and attachment metadata via API endpoints. The public CommentController::list and AttachmentController::list handlers accept a recordId and return child resources without first verifying that the parent FAQ is visible to the current requester; 4.1.7 adds isFaqAccessibleForUser() checks before fetching either dataset. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the demonstrated impact is limited to comment text, commenter email addresses, and attachment filenames or URLs tied to otherwise inaccessible FAQ records.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
