Unauthenticated code execution via forgeable firmware CRC32
Published May 2, 2026 · Updated May 2, 2026
Improper firmware authentication in TRENDnet TEW-821DAP 1.12B01 allows remote attackers to install modified firmware. The platform_do_upgrade_cameo_dev function in cameo_dev.sh relies on forgeable CRC32 values rather than cryptographic authenticity verification. Exploitation requires crafting an image with the expected CRC32 value and allows attacker-controlled code execution or a service interruption.
