CVE-2026-7607Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated access-point crash via unchecked firmware filename

Published May 2, 2026 · Updated May 2, 2026

Buffer overflow in TRENDnet TEW-821DAP 1.12B01 firmware allows remote authenticated users to crash the access point. The ssi program's auto_update_firmware function copies the attacker-controlled firmware filename from str into a 1,552-byte array with strcpy and no length check. Low-privileged network-management access is required; a filename longer than 1,163 bytes causes an out-of-bounds write and service interruption.
