CVE-2026-7601Network attack vector

AMF crash via unnormalized registration type

Published May 2, 2026 · Updated May 2, 2026

Improper resource handling in Open5GS AMF 2.7.0 through 2.7.6 allows remote authenticated users to crash the AMF via a registration request. The handler leaves registration type zero unnormalized, causing context-transfer JSON construction to fail and its item assertion to abort the process. A crafted NGAP/NAS request with an invalid type and non-existent GUTI interrupts the AMF service for its connected mobile network.
