Authenticated command execution via ping CGI header
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Command injection in TRENDnet TEW-823DRU firmware 1.1.02b01 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through ping.cgi. The published PoC shows ping.cgi deriving REMOTE_ADDR from attacker-controlled X-Forwarded-For data and passing it to popen without neutralizing shell metacharacters; the CNA instead associates wan_type with ping.cgi. Low-privileged management access and network reachability are required, and remote management is disabled by default.
