Denial of service in Amazon Ion Java before 1.12.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted GZIP-compressed Ion document. The GZIP auto-decompression handler accepts highly compressed input and expands it without an effective size bound, so a small payload can inflate into an arbitrarily large in-memory buffer during parsing. Exposure requires a remotely reachable path that parses untrusted Ion with automatic GZIP decompression enabled; the published impact is service interruption from memory amplification, with no stated confidentiality or integrity effect.
