CVE-2026-75927Network attack vector

Editor-level privilege escalation via automatic capability grants

Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026

Privilege escalation in PublishPress Capabilities 2.50.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain role-management privileges. The addPluginCapabilities() function automatically assigns all manage_capabilities_* permissions to Editors during the first admin_init and persists them in the database. Editor access is required, and the resulting control covers non-system roles and plugin options but not full Administrator capabilities.
