CVE-2026-75904Public exploit

Adjacent-memory read via zero sample index

Published Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in libmodplug through 0.8.9.1 allows attackers to read adjacent memory via a crafted MIDI file. In pat_smplooped() in src/load_pat.cpp, the code checks only smp < MAXSMP and then reads pat_loops[smp - 1], so a zero smpno from a parsed MIDI event dereferences pat_loops[-1]. Reachability requires an application to pass attacker-supplied MIDI data into ModPlug_Load; the read is one byte before a static array, which can disclose adjacent state and alter note looping behavior but is not shown to grant code execution.
