Out-of-bounds heap read via unbounded string scan
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in Osmocom libsmpp34 allows attackers to trigger memory corruption by supplying crafted SMPP PDUs. The C_OCTET macro in smpp34_unpack calls strlen on an attacker-controlled wire buffer before verifying the remaining length, so an unterminated field scans beyond the heap allocation. Reachability depends on a consuming application passing an untrusted C-Octet-String to the decoder; published evidence establishes an out-of-bounds heap read but not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
