Namespace privilege escalation via pod specification injection
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Privilege escalation in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform allows remote authenticated users to read OpenShift namespace secrets. The container group's pod_spec_override is merged into the job Pod specification while only automountServiceAccountToken is forced off, leaving injected initContainers, serviceAccountName values, and projected token volumes effective. An attacker must hold AAP platform administrator privileges and control a container group override; a launched job can then assume a namespace service account and exfiltrate its accessible secrets.
