AMF crash via mismatched SMF response
Published May 1, 2026 · Updated May 1, 2026
Denial of service in Open5GS AMF 2.7.0 through 2.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to crash the AMF via a crafted SMF response. amf_nsmf_pdusession_handle_update_sm_context treats PDU_RES_SETUP_REQ in an unexpected transaction state as unreachable and invokes a fatal assertion instead of rejecting it. Exploitation requires control of an SMF peer and an active PDU-session transaction; the resulting process exit interrupts AMF service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
