Authorization bypass via unchecked token scope
Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 22, 2026
Missing authorization in Punk::OAuth2::Server 0.03 and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain over-scoped signed access tokens. The token path accepts the request-body grant_type and requested scope without comparing either value with the client registration, while authorize stores an unchecked query scope in authorization codes. Exploitation requires a registered client identifier; secretless clients need no additional credential, and Punk::OAuth2::Checker honors the resulting token scope.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
