Command execution via auto-approved shell stdin
Published Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Privilege escalation in Hmbown CodeWhale before 0.8.64 allows attackers to execute commands in approved interactive shells via prompt injection. ShellInteractTool sets exec_shell_interact and exec_interact to ApprovalRequirement::Auto, then passes model-controlled input to write_stdin with no fresh approval, turning live python, ssh, mysql, or sudo sessions into command sinks. Exposure requires shell tools to be enabled and a previously approved long-running interactive process; untrusted page, MCP, or repository content can then execute with that process privilege, including remote-host or root contexts.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
