Arbitrary file write and delete via path traversal
Published Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Path traversal in POST /api/v1/server in Arcade Data ArcadeDB before 26.8.1 allows remote authenticated users to write and delete files via crafted database names. PostServerCommandHandler passes create database and drop database names into ArcadeDBServer.createDatabase by string-concatenating the configured database directory and untrusted input, with no normalization or containment check before on-disk creation or recursive deletion. Exploitation requires the server root account, but that application-level superuser can escape the configured databaseDirectory sandbox and modify or remove any path the JVM process can access.
