CVE-2026-75818Hinoki check available

Process crash via unchecked prefix advancement

Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026

A heap buffer overflow in GNU Aspell prezip-bin before 0.60.8.3 allows context-dependent attackers to crash it via a crafted compressed word list. In prog/prezip.c, the ADV macro marks an embedded NUL as invalid but continues advancing the word pointer instead of taking the error path, permitting out-of-bounds heap access. Exploitation requires a user or application to decompress the attacker-supplied list; the reported consequence is a process crash.
