Account probing via unthrottled password-reset method
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Observable response discrepancy in Rocket.Chat affected releases allows remote attackers to probe account types through an anonymous method. The sendForgotPasswordEmail Meteor method performs account lookup and password-reset delivery without registering a DDP rate-limit rule, while its boolean result distinguishes OAuth-only accounts when password changes are disabled. Unauthenticated DDP or method.callAnon HTTP access is sufficient to generate unbounded reset email from the server and enumerate that account class.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
