Service interruption via unchecked socket-address reads
Published Oct 9, 2026 · Updated Oct 9, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in EIPStackGroup OpENer 2.3 allow remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted TCP SendRRData packets. CreateCommonPacketFormatStructure() consumes fixed socket-address fields for optional CPF items 0x8000 or 0x8001 without checking that the remaining buffer contains them. Exploitation requires network access and ordinary EtherNet/IP session registration, not credentials; a server crash is demonstrated under AddressSanitizer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
