AMF service crash via missing newValue dereference
Published May 1, 2026 · Updated May 1, 2026
Denial of service in the Open5GS AMF SBI endpoint in 2.7.0 through 2.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to crash the AMF process. The ChangeItem parser accepts an omitted newValue, after which amf_namf_callback_handle_sdm_data_change_notify calls update_ambr and unconditionally dereferences new_value->json. Exploitation requires network access to the HTTP/2 SBI listener and a valid registered UE identity; the resulting segmentation fault interrupts AMF service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
