Unauthenticated admin access via fail-open secret check
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
Authentication bypass in MemTensor MemOS 2.0.30 and earlier allows remote attackers to reach admin APIs via a missing X-Internal-Service header. In src/memos/api/middleware/auth.py, is_internal_request() directly compares request.headers.get("X-Internal-Service") with os.getenv("INTERNAL_SERVICE_SECRET"); when the secret is unset, both values are None and the check incorrectly classifies the request as trusted internal traffic. Reachability requires AUTH_ENABLED=true together with an unset INTERNAL_SERVICE_SECRET, after which header-less requests receive scopes ["all"], can mint or revoke API keys, and can generate a master key for persistent privileged access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
