Crashes via unchecked radio packet length
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Buffer overflow in Zephyr RTOS 4.4.2 CC1200 reception allows remote attackers within radio range to crash devices via malformed frames. verify_rxfifo_validity() omits an upper length bound, and read_rxfifo_content() reads the radio-declared length into only the first network-buffer fragment. Exposure requires CONFIG_IEEE802154_CC1200 and an attached radio; RF timing affects reachability, and FIFO-underflow bytes corrupt the buffer pool rather than provide a controlled write.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.11.0 <=4.4.2

No CVSS assessment is available in this record.
CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Activity data is delayed. The latest report is Sep 28, 2026.
