Command execution via Markdown preview content
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 17, 2026
Command execution in JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA before 2026.2.1 allows attackers to run commands via crafted Markdown preview content. JetBrains has not published the exact preview handler or code path, but IntelliJ IDEA's Markdown feature renders preview content and can expose runnable shell-command blocks directly from Markdown files. Reachability is limited to trusted projects and user interaction with attacker-supplied Markdown content, so execution occurs as the local IDE user rather than as an unauthenticated remote compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
