Remote image blocking bypass via SVG animate
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
HTML/CSS sanitization bypass in Roundcube Webmail 1.6.0 through 1.6.17 and 1.7.0 through 1.7.2 allows attackers to bypass remote image blocking. The HTML sanitizer does not neutralize untrusted values in the SVG animate by attribute, so crafted email markup can preserve remote-fetch behavior that should be stripped before rendering. Reachability is network-based and can expose recipient or deployment data when remote content loads; the CNA also states that privilege escalation can follow, but no public source describes that path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.6.0 <1.6.18
- Affected versionversion=1.7.0 <1.7.3
