CVE-2026-74890

Integrity bypass via test-mode environment flag

Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 17, 2026

Authentication bypass in jahlives openssl_encrypt before 1.4.0 allows attackers to bypass Camellia integrity checks via PYTEST_CURRENT_TEST. In openssl_encrypt/modules/crypt_core.py, CamelliaCipher reads that environment variable to enter a test mode that returns ciphertext without an HMAC tag and decrypts data without verifying one. Reachability requires code execution in the package's process environment or another way to set that variable before encryption or decryption, letting modified ciphertext be accepted as authentic.
