Published-note access via unthrottled password guessing

Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 17, 2026

Improper restriction of excessive authentication attempts in SiYuan before 3.7.4 allows remote attackers to read published notes via password guessing. In PublishServiceTransport.RoundTrip() in kernel/server/proxy/publish.go, the Publish Service accepts Basic Auth on its separate listener and compares account passwords without any per-account rate limit, lockout, or backoff before returning another 401. Reachability requires the Publish Service to be exposed and publish-viewer accounts to be enabled; a correct guess yields that account's reader session and access to the notes or notebooks published through it.
