Arbitrary file read and deletion via path traversal
Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
Path traversal in the database_clean MCP tool in SiYuan before 3.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to read and delete files via a crafted id value. The databaseClean MCP handler passes any non-empty id to RemoveUnusedAttributeView, which joins id plus .json into the attribute-view storage path with filepath.Join, copies the resolved file into SiYuan's history directory, and then removes the original without validating that id matches a node ID or stays under data/storage/av. Exploitation requires access to the authenticated /mcp surface, with the GitHub advisory stating that the endpoint is admin-gated, and exposes any file readable by the SiYuan process while deleting the source file.
