CVE-2026-74712

Guest-to-host memory disclosure via oversized command length

Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux 6.12 through 7.1.8 allows guest OS users to expose host kernel memory through mlx5 vDPA mapping. create_direct_keys() passes cmd_exec a length covering out, in, and mtt[] even though its pointer starts at in, so mlx5_copy_to_msg() reads sizeof(out) beyond the slab allocation. Reachability requires a guest on an mlx5 vDPA host to drive normal virtio IOTLB updates; the over-read crosses into host kernel memory and can corrupt device commands or crash the host.
