Kernel memory disclosure via PMBus type confusion
Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Type confusion in the Linux kernel PMBus driver allows attackers to disclose kernel memory or destabilize the system via a hardware alert. pmbus_notify() casts heterogeneous device attributes to sensor_device_attribute and reads an index beyond or across the actual object layout. Reachability requires PMBus SMBALERT IRQ handling and an onboard I2C/SMBus power device; no network-only path is exposed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
