CVE-2026-74673

Kernel stack disclosure via uninitialized event padding

Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Information disclosure in Linux kernel evdev before fixed stable releases allows local users to read kernel stack bytes through input events. The evdev_pass_values(), __evdev_queue_syn_dropped(), and __pass_event() paths copy input_event structures without clearing padding bytes. Access to an evdev device on an architecture with structure padding is required, and exposed bytes can contain sensitive kernel stack data.
