CVE-2026-74651

Memory disclosure or crash via undersized WPA element

Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux rtl8723bs Wi-Fi driver allows remote attackers to disclose memory or crash systems via Wi-Fi management frames. rtw_get_wpa_ie() compares four OUI-and-type bytes at pbuf + 2 and reads a two-byte version at pbuf + 6 without requiring the vendor-specific element body to contain six bytes. Exposure requires the rtl8723bs driver to process a trailing element with a declared length of zero through five bytes, causing reads beyond the exactly sized buffer.
