CVE-2026-74592Network attack vector

Integrity-check bypass via stale IMA cache

Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Improper cache invalidation in Linux IMA allows remote authenticated users to bypass integrity checks through file truncation. The truncate path changes regular-file data without a writable file description, leaving the inode's cached IMA_DONE_MASK verdict and digest intact. Reachability requires an active IMA appraisal policy and write access to the target file; remote exposure is through ksmbd on TCP/445.
