CVE-2026-74567

Kernel-memory disclosure or crash via key-description over-read

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel key management subsystem from 5.3 allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the host. keyring_get_key_chunk() advances by level times the machine-word size beyond the inline prefix but validates only that prefix before reading a copied key description. An unprivileged add_key(2) caller must supply two same-type keys whose index paths collide through the hash, x, type, and domain-tag chunks; the bounded consequences are adjacent slab disclosure and a kernel fault.
