Service interruption via oversized temperature register count
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in affected Linux kernels allows local users to interrupt service when the NCT6116 hwmon driver probes. nct6775_probe sets the NCT6116 register count from a six-entry NCT6106 array, then reads past its three temperature-source entries. Reachability requires Linux on NCT6116 hardware and loading the nct6775 module; the reported consequence is an out-of-bounds read with availability impact, not disclosed data access or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
