CVE-2026-74519

Local kernel memory corruption via uninitialized pointer free

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Memory corruption in Linux kernel 5.5 allows local users to trigger a double-free through pinctrl device-tree map cleanup. On a partial dt_remember_or_free_map() failure, dt_free_map() passes uninitialized dev_name entries from kmalloc()-allocated maps to kfree_const(). Reachability requires an allocation failure while binding a pinctrl-consuming device whose driver leaves those entries uninitialized; the demonstrated consequence is a KASAN-detected double-free.
