CVE-2026-74496

Local kernel memory corruption via FOU use-after-free

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux 3.18 through 7.1.7 and before 7.2-rc6 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through concurrent FOU traffic. Requesting local port 0 makes fou_cfg_cmp() report -EALREADY after separate sockets receive different ephemeral ports; fou_create() then frees a struct fou still published through sk_user_data, and fou_from_sock() can dereference it during a concurrent receive. Local low-privileged access and a race are required; the stale dereference can corrupt kernel memory and crash the system.
