CVE-2026-74469

Kernel memory corruption via wrapped SCTP peer count

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

An out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel SCTP subsystem allows local users to crash the system through a crafted diagnostic dump. The SCTP peer-add path lets the 16-bit transport_count wrap after 65,536 unique peers, so sock_diag reserves no peer payload before copying roughly 8 MiB beyond the skb tail. Exploitation requires control of an SCTP association and local low-privileged access to request the diagnostic dump, causing kernel heap corruption and a crash.
