GPU hang via uncleared tile state slots
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Denial of service in the VC4 DRM driver in affected Linux kernels starting with 4.13 allows local users to hang the GPU. Recycled binner-buffer slots retain a prior job's Tile State Data Array, so the packet tile binner follows stale state and emits invalid command and primitive streams. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and Broadcom VideoCore 4 graphics hardware; a successful trigger stalls GPU processing.
